A man before his time, Adolf Loos was not only part of the first wave of modern architecture but also served as an important source of inspiration for all architects who followed. Born in 1870, he radically opposed the decorative trends of Art Nouveau, instead championing unadorned architecture that, for him, represented clarity of purpose.
