Annelies Strba, well-known for lyrically concise images of her family, always knew how to use photography to transform reality into a dense and dazzling alternate universe. In her new work she is taking this approach one step further: She uses a video camera to create stills that she digitally colors, leaving behind the trappings of naturalism and realism to invent images of a perplexingly intense visual wonderland.
